More About Center for Politics Programs
Our flagship program, the Youth Leadership Initiative, is a national civic education program designed at increasing the political awareness of middle-
and high-school students.
Some of our programs, such as the National Symposium Series,
focus on aspects of politics that others dare not to touch like the role of character in public
life and the politics of conflict.
The Virginia Political History Project focuses on the important aspects of the Commonwealth's storied political past; from previous governors to the General Assembly, and this year's conference exploring the life and career of J. Sargeant Reynolds.
The American Democracy Conference
looks at issues concerning past, present and future elections. In September 2002 the Center launched Sabato's Crystal Ball,
a comprehensive election analysis website.
The Center has sponsored debates of high-profile elections,
including the 2000 Robb-Allen race for U.S. Senator and the 2001 Warner-Earley Virginia
gubernatorial debate.
Some of our previous projects include the National
Direct Democracy Conference and the Virginia Forum on Media & Politics.
