Student Opportunities

Fall 2008 internships are organized under the PLAP 337 Contemporary Study in Politics course, and applications may be downloaded by clicking here. Completed applications were due on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. We are currently accepting applications for the course Wait List. Fall interns work between 8 and 10 hours per week, and more information about the class can be obtained from the 2007 course syllabus.

The Center also offers internships in the spring and summer. These internships are on a voluntary basis and accepted interns work an average of 6-8 hours per week. Applications for spring internships are generally available in October, and summer applications in March.

The internship program provides students with the opportunity to assist in all facets of the Center's ongoing programs and projects such as the Youth Leadership Initiative, the Crystal Ball, the Virginia Political History Project, the National Symposium Series and the American Democracy Conference.

Possible duties include--but are not limited to--research, writing, development, event planning, graphic design, administrative support, public relations and technical support.

By working side by side with the Center staff, interns receive a hands-on introduction to the mechanism of state and national government and politics, while also contributing to the Center's goals of political research, education, and reform.

For more information please contact Megan Davis at (434) 243-3539 or megandavis@virginia.edu.
